Why we started.
We could not find what we wanted on our own shelves. Body wash that left skin soft without a lotion, laundry that smelled like real plants, soap with a label we could actually read.
So we went looking. And we found a small workshop in the French countryside that has been making cold-process soap by hand for years. Together, we made The French Kemest.
Cold-made. No heat. Two months to cure.
Plant oils and an alkali at room temperature. No heat, so the plant oils keep their properties. The natural glycerin from the reaction stays in the formula, and keeps your skin soft after every rinse.
Then, two months on the shelf. Because a bar that is ready in days is not the same bar.
Real plants, named on the label.
Our raw materials come from where they are best grown. Our sunflower oil is French, organic, and pressed at the workshop. Our olive oil is organic, from Spain. Our essential oils are also organic: lavandin from Provence, and citrus, mint, and eucalyptus from a specialist producer in southern Spain, one of the most established organic aromatic regions in Europe.
Every ingredient is named on the label in full, whether it goes into a body wash, a laundry liquid, or a solid soap.
What makes it different.
Short formulas
Four to fourteen ingredients per product. Every one named in full.
Glycerin left in
The natural glycerin stays in the formula. Your skin holds onto moisture after every rinse.
Real essential oils
Scent from plants, named individually. Never a word in quotation marks.
Independently reviewed
Every formula reviewed by an independent US toxicologist before production.
